Behind the Scenes

My name is Katharine and I started Just Squeaks as a place to store my ideas and inspiration.  I studied Business Management at James Madison University, and while it was a wonderful experience, I knew something was lacking.  Once I graduated I started taking courses in Interior Design at the local community college.  I am on my slow and steady journey of making my career change from management to interiors.  It is my goal to always be working toward that end, and since no classes are in session, a blog is the perfect way to do this.  Interior Design is without question my #1 passion.  My other loves include traveling the world, music, shopping (I am a girl afterall), and of course, I'm hopelessly addicted to Pinterest (who isn't these days?).  Those tiny comment boxes left something for my long-winded self to desire so a blog seemed the best way to compile my interests.  I also thoroughly enjoy a good quote.  Most people keep a diary of their day, I keep a diary of quotes I come across.  I love food but I'm a disaster in the kitchen so chances are you won't find too many recipes here, and if you do the amount of effort required for them is kept to a strict minimum.

If you have any questions please comment or email me.

Squeak

   1. A short, sharp, shrill cry; a sharp, high-pitched sound.
   2. Opportunity; chance
   3. An escape from defeat, danger, death, or destruction (usually qualified by narrow or close).

The name of this blog may seem a little odd to you at first so I figured I should share its creation.  When I get really excited about something (think new House Beautiful magazine or a pint of Ben & Jerry's...) I love to make a completely obnoxious sound (enter definition one, seen above).  Also, when my boyfriend and I first started dating, rather than being a total mush I would just say "Squeak!" if I was really happy.  When I was trying to come up with a name for my blog he suggested Just Squeaks and I knew it was perfect.  I subsequently looked up squeaks in the dictionary and loved it even more.  Who doesn't love an opportunity or a chance?  And I like to think of this blog as my way to escape boredom, monotony, and live a squeakful life.

So there you have it, a small glimpse into my crazy, quirky mind.  I hope you enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy writing them.
